BE REAL

                                                            AN IMPRESSIVE APP

Looking at social media websites, especially Facebook and Instagram, it seems like everyone's life has more than beautiful selfies, beautiful places, good food and beautiful moments. To counter this unreal perception, an app called 'Be Real' was introduced two years ago, and its usage has grown tremendously over the past few months.

The app prompts users once a day to post a picture of what they're doing in the current moment, and users are given just two minutes to do so, the app also uses the mobile's front and rear camera to capture a picture with full context. Like its name 'Be Real', this app does not allow users to apply filters or other effects that make even an ordinary photo look beautiful. The approach taken by the BeReal app is quite different from Facebook and Instagram where users tend to post pictures of parties, good food, beautiful weather and attractive moments.

Syracuse University professor Jennifer Strimmer says that BReal aims to show users in the present moment. The life we are living is not necessarily the best part of our life. One minute you'll be walking your dog or sitting in your pajamas eating cereal. 'The Be Real app entices users to display realistic images.

Launched by French entrepreneur Alexis Brett, the app was the most downloaded app in the US at the start of September, while it was the third most downloaded app in the UK and France. , has been downloaded 3.5 million times worldwide.

Alexis Breit came up with the idea to create this app during a mountain biking event when he went cycling along tough mountain trails with other colleagues. Alexis Breit wrote in a blog post about the experience that many social media influencers attending the event were too busy trying to film their lives through various shots, stories and filters and were completely indifferent to the show.

Technology analyst Carolina Milansi says the rise in popularity of the BReal app suggests people are tired of seeing edited photos.
